Senior Accountant
Position Overview
Leads the preparation and review of year-end management accounts, managing a portfolio of clients and liaising with auditors. Ensures compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements, manages client relationships, and oversees junior team members. Provides technical guidance on accounting standards and solid background in VAT reporting. This role also involves the opportunity to assist and be involved in other ad hoc tasks such as overdraft and loan facilities.
Roles and responsibilities
- Responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients whilst ensuring deadlines are maintained.
- Preparation and reviewing of year-end management accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Meeting with clients forming part of the portfolio and attending to their requests.
- Compiling and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance, and in accordance with statutory deadlines.
- Delegating tasks to junior accountants and reviewing work to ensure quality control.
- Liaising closely with the management team to ensure the clients’ requirements are being met from an accounting perspective.
- Liaising directly with auditors on audit queries and related matters.
- Any other ad-hoc duties which may be required from time to time.
Job requirements
- In possession of an Accounting Degree (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) or in the process of obtaining a similar relevant qualification.
- A minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a client accounting department.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Xero, and/or Sage.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Highly organized, meticulous, with the ability to prioritize.
- Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional organizational skills.
